You have really good ideas.

Trust me. The melodies were beautiful. I especially liked the piano. You mix it in well.

It's true. Trance is really hard to make. (Hence why I switched to house :p). The reason lies in the EQ. Trance is composed of many parts (Low Bass|Mid Bass| High Bass|Gate|Pads|Lead|Drums)

They all occupy different frequency bands, so if some frequencies overlap, it is important to lower the frequency band of the instrument that doesn't belong there (ie, if a pad takes away from the bass, lower the low frequencies).

The other difficulty comes from synthesizing the right sounds. I would ditch sytrus and get Sylenth because Sylenth allows for up to 8 waves per osc. You'll find that this makes a big difference in quality.

The alternative to this of course is layering different patches of 3xOsc or Sytrus, but it's just harder to work with.

Anyways, I hoped that this helped. Tell me when you have a new track up, and I can come listen to it.

TeHLoY responds:

Well, sure.
I've encountered this problem many times, when two instruments just don't sound right together. I've learnt by removing the conflicting frequencies, it became alright.

I've never seen the frequencies split into many parts. Maybe that's because I mix by ear, I know very little theory about mixing. o.o

Actually, I prefer 3xOsc over sytrus. I think it's because I'm really used to 3x, but I'm still learning sytrus anyway. I often have to layer two 3xosc synths to get enough oscillators.

And of course, this really helped a lot. Thanks for this awesome review!!

Do pm me too when you post a new song. I would like to listen to it too. =)

I don't really like hip hop

But that was amazing.

The beginning was really good, probably the best part of the track. I think you need more variation in the rest of the song though, add a lead, idk.

O-Prime125 responds:

i think its ok how it is to be honest , it is rap after all.
Thanks for the comment though! :)

Umm...

You guys are kidding right? I agree, the pitched voice was annoying, but everything was amazing. (second part especially). It was very infected mushroom guitaresque. I loved the leads (maybe the square lead could be softened a bit though), other than that, it was great!

Koriigahn responds:

Thank's for the review!

Really tight.

It sounds quite good. I would add some pads into it so that the reverb isn't the only thing in the background. Btw, I would get another reverb because the FL built in reverb has a very cheap sound (its model based, whereas convolution reverbs sound more realistic). The beats are also nice. I think you are doing quite a good job. Keep it up.

hau5wave responds:

well thank's, glad you liked my robotic track lol.
I will take a look at those reeverbs that u mentioned.
thank's for the review

Love the bass,

The lead, not so much, however, because the quality is really good for newgrounds, I will do my best to keep it on the front page (we need more real trance on ng. Just PM me if it gets bombed.

As for the song, I would work on increasing the harmonic content found in the lead, and on improving the chorus effect on it to give it a rich texture. Btw, what synthesizer did you use for the bass? (yes, its that good ;)

heartless1298 responds:

Wow thanks a lot, I really appreciate that! And thanks a lot for the advice too, that's a really good idea that I kinda forgot about haha. And I'll PM you about the bass, so that I know for sure that you get it.

I know what You've been through.

It just happened to me recently. Musically truly is the way to let out those emotions. As a musician, you keep those emotions forever, so that you may use them later to recreate certain moods. Shoving them aside simply isn't an option. I knew something was amiss when I first heard it, and well, I guessed correctly, didn't I? If you can keep these within you, then you will truly be a successful artist. Good art only comes from control over powerful emotions, and I think here, you have done it well. May success come to you.

Mrmilkcarton responds:

It's been a long time since I've seen your name :) glad to see you are still around

Nice

Just lower the 15-20k frequencies. For headphones, they are a bit too loud. I like the idea though.

QuebecGrinder responds:

the ending is my fav part. Thanks!

Amazing

I love this so much. You managed to include some very nice elements with the vocals. The strings are so nice, of course, you are experienced there. The kick is a bit underpowered for the bass. My consideration would be to add a high freq punch, set with a very low attack to give it more of a full sound. The square bass, however, was not a favorite. It was too loud, and did not have enough harmony. This is offset by your melody, and the stutter, contrary to what some may say, sounds very peaceful. The panning was timed perfectly, and that did the trick. Continue on, but don't go commercial, I like your style as it is now.

mjattie responds:

Hey, I'll keep my own style as much as possible, but I also try new things in every song, so... Appreciate you review. It was helpfull

Nice Ideas

Hmm, would you take it as a compliment if I said that it sounded a bit like solar stone? Well... it does. Well, if thats the sound you're going for, then eq the piano into "the pianful frequencies" and play chords etc. Your sense of rythm is very good, and all you need now is to get more into your software. Find good ways to EQ it without distorting to much, and use compression (Or limiter if you feel like it) to keep it from getting too loud and keeping each section of sound in its levels.

But since you are making it so long, I would try to include some other sounds. Add ambient sounds and other fast synths with no real melody. If you would like more advice, I wouldn't mind giving it to you, but if you dreadfly scorn this (I really have no idea because I dont know you) then I'll just stop here. Have a good one.

endlessnumber responds:

thanks for the tips and the review - mixing has never been my strength. i am completely done with producing trance (and this track overloads my cpu without adding more synths) but i am sure mixing does even more in house.

The melodies are nice

The quality is not so much. And i know that when someone says this to you, you wont get it quite yet (I know I didnt) But the sounds screech a little bit. So you have o make sure you get clear samples/vst sounds and make sure they NEVER go above 0dB, so use life compression. Wow the end is great. I love it. like at 2:30 its so nice. I swear you'll become famous one day. You can just make the right sounds. :D

mjattie responds:

Whow thank you :)

Yes most of the comments I don't really get but I get this one, but I forgot editing it :O.... I'm going to edit it XD
